Organic Cotton Bathrobe and Slipper Set - 700 GSM
Most bathrobes sold as "luxury" sit between 300 and 400 GSM. This one is 700.
GSM measures grams per square metre - the density of the towelling. It's the number that decides whether a robe feels like a hotel robe or like a dressing gown, and it's the number most brands don't publish. At 700, this is roughly twice the weight of what you'd find at a typical bedding retailer, and about the weight you'd expect in a good spa.
What's included
- One unisex organic cotton bathrobe
- One pair of matching slippers, non-slip sole

Why Turkish cotton
Turkish cotton has longer fibres than standard upland cotton, which means fewer joins along the length of each thread. Fewer joins means less shedding, less pilling, and a fabric that gets softer with washing rather than thinner. It's what most hotel linen suppliers use, and it's why a good robe outlasts a cheap one by years rather than months.
What GOTS certification actually means
GOTS is the recognised international standard for organic textiles. It covers the whole supply chain - not just that the cotton was grown organically, but that no chlorine bleach, azo dyes, or formaldehyde finishes were used in processing, and that labour standards were met at each stage.
For most people the practical effect is on the skin. Conventional towelling is often finished with softeners and optical brighteners that wash out over the first few months and can irritate sensitive skin or eczema. GOTS-certified cotton has none of them, which is why the fabric feels slightly less slippery when new and considerably better after ten washes.
Care
Machine wash warm with like colours. Tumble dry on low and remove promptly. Skip the fabric softener - it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency, which is the opposite of what you want in a 700 GSM robe. Terry cotton softens naturally with use.
